Digit is a collection of rugs created with well-known interior design brand nanimarquina. The two collaborators have much in common: as well as their commitment to colourful, innovative contemporary interior products, they both share Barcelona as a birthplace.

Hand-knotted using 100% New Zealand wool, the Digit rug collection was first launched at 2010’s Salone Internazionale del mobile in Milan, April 14th-19th. The  design is initially based on a letterpress print. This letterprint was turned into a digital image, where it was then reduced from hundreds of colours down to 26, thereby creating an abstraction of the original image. The pixels become organic geometric shapes that are transformed in the manufacturing process, as hundreds of wool threads inevitably move to create a less sharp, less digital pattern.

Digit comprises two models: one is a combination of 26 bright colours and the other in monochromatic tones. Both models are available in two sizes, 170 x 240cm and 200 x 300cm. Each rug in this collection is made to order, doubly enhancing each item’s combination of bold, bright shapes and structures with minute attention to detail and subtle, tactile variation.
